wineofwizardry: Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire. Political activist, socialite, reigning queen of the “Devonshire Circle” (which included many of the most prominent members of the ton in England) and generally dazzling human being. Despite not being traditionally beautiful, she was also a HUGE fashion icon and counted among her friends (and lovers) Charles Fox, Charles Grey, William Sheridan, and Marie Antoinette. She also ruffled more than a few feathers with her love of politics, gambling, and extravagance in all areas.
